Reaction (Confusion):
I was confused at this part. I did not understand if she was saying that she was responsible for her brothers leaving; it just did not make since to me. Previously, the book said the her brother went to America because he was attending high school so why would she feel guilty if that is even what she is saying.

Reaction (Connection to the World):
As kids and teens, we are all embarrassed by our parents. As little kids, we think nothing of our parents but as we get older, we become embarrassed and don't want to be seen with them. Most of the time though, we are embarrassed because of something our parents have done, but in this case, her mother has done nothing beside accompany her daughter to school to stay safe.
